The North American Chuckwagon Championship has come to a close with Dustin Gorst winning the Championship ahead of his older brother Logan Gorst, along with Jamie Laboucane and Wade Salmond.

Across the province we are just ramping up for Championship Sunday at the Calgary Stampede. Layne MacGillivray finished with the top Aggregate time after nine days of racing, Kurt Bensmiller came in second, with Kris Molle rounding out the top three.

However, before Sundays races we caught up with Kirk Sutherland. We chatted with him about his career, the years he took off, some of his best horses, and why he isn't ready to hang the lines up just yet.

Chad Fike's day money run last night was not only his third of the Cowboys Rangeland Derby, but also the new fastest time of the week. Beating the 1:12.81 he ran back on day two by twenty one hundredths of a second. With two nights left before Championship Sunday, Layne MacGillivray, Kurt Bensmiller, and Obrey Motowylo are the top three in the aggregate.

After night seven we caught up with Hayden Motowylo and chatted about his first experiences as an outrider at the Calgary Stampede.

At the North American Chuckwagon Championship tonight is Semi-Final Friday before tomorrows Championship races. We caught up with Wade Salmond who is sitting fourth in the aggregate there.

Day six of the Cowboys Rangeland Derby saw Chanse Vigen take the top time of the night. Night six also ended the second round of racing, and Layne MacGillivray sits first in the aggregate.

With one last round, or three nights, of racing there is still some room for possible movement.

At the beginning of the week we talked about how heading into this show Motowylo would be looking to change his top ten stat from 2019. We caught up with Motowylo who explained the role equipment plays in a drivers success.

After the first of three rounds of racing, Chance Bensmiller sits first in the aggregate. Tonight the first of redraw happens, with six days left for drivers to get into that top three for the next Sundays championship dash.

Night one of the Calgary Stampede saw Darcy Flad take the top time of the night with a 1:13.07. Between Flad's top time of the night and the bottom time of the night there was 5.11 seconds. Meaning it was some tight racing on the track.

We caught up with CPCA driver Danny Ringuette and found out what it means to be back at Calgary for him after a three year break.

After 1090 days the wagons will roll again at the Calgary Stampede. 27 Drivers will compete in nine heats over ten days to be apart of the dash on Championship Sunday. Outrider Kaeden Molle and World Champion Outrider Hayden Motowylo will be making their Calgary Stampede Chuckwagons Debut. We caught up with Molle before night ones action.

The ten day show will also see After the Ninth host and WPCA Driver Dayton Sutherland make his driving debut at the Stampede as the 2022 Demo Driver.

Here is the After the Ninth Race Review heading into Championship Sunday at the Ponoka Stampede. The final four have been decided for heat nine, with Obrey Motowylo on barrel one, Ray Croteau Jr. on barrel two, Ross Knight on three and Jordie Fike on barrel four.

Night four was a story of penalties. At the end of the night Obrey Motowylo topped the aggregate standings. Heading into night five, the top eight drivers in the aggregate will compete in heats seven and nine to be in Championship Sundays dash for cash.

Ahead of day two of the Dewberry races, the community came out to celebrate with the Spirit of the Country Parade. Along with the drivers and outriders, some their were wagon family members in the parade as well. One of these was Kurt Bensmiller's daughter Vahn, and her pony Isabelle.

After a couple wet and rainy days in the area, night one of the Dewberry races is cancelled.

In the aggregate Kirk Sutherland came out on top after four nights of racing, becoming the 2022 Grande Prairie Stompede Ralph Vigen Award winner.

After two days of racing at the Grande Prairie Stompede Rae Croteau Jr. is sitting first in the aggregate. The veteran driver, who retired six years ago, says that in that time the sport itself hasn’t changed, but his mind set has.
